The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Planning In India” was published on January 1, 1970 and was authored by the founder A D Shroff himself and is based on a talk at the Vivekananda College delivered on January 17, 1957. The text covers the disparities in income and wealth among the rich and the poor and reminds the government what the real objectives of a Plan should be like. The text then criticizes the First Five Year Plan and talks about the industries affected by these Plans. The text also discusses deficit financing, resources, the background of Hungarian situation, and the ideology behind the Second Five Year Plan.
