The following booklet is titled “Reflections on Global Trends And Sustainable Development” was published on May-Oct,12,2005 and was authored by Piya Mahataney. The author begins the text with a note of disappointment regarding the current global trends with respect to nature. The author also draws a parallel between economic growth and sustainable growth which can also reduce poverty. Then, Mahatey states social factors contribute to sustainable development and which can help eliminate the potential threats to profits. They also go back to the soviet era to explain by giving the historical context. The text tracks post -colonial and pre-colonial development of major countries and how the waste has been kept piling up. Mahatey also then gives some Indian context mentioning the development of major dams, the Chipko movement and all of these moments’ aftermath.
