The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “Role Of Free Enterprise In Second Plan” was published on January 1, 1970 and was authored by C. L. Gheevala. This booklet talks about the bit part of Free Enterprise in the second Five Year Plan.The author talks about the evolution of the Second Five Year Plan through various stages of consultation and discussion from the Plan-Frame to the Draft Outline. The author then talks about the allocations under the major heads of development and indicates the growing expansion of the Public Sector and the enormous responsibilities entrusted to it. The text discusses the Free enterprise and its function in the Second Five Year Plan. At the end, the author suggests that the question of Free enterprise and the future of democracy are linked.
