The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “The Basic Truth About Inflation” was published on January 14, 1979 and was authored Prof. B. R. Shenoy and Henry Hazlitt. The first article, titled “Controlling Inflation In India” talks about origins of inflation dividing the economy in two parts i.e. the government sector and the people’s sector and also suggests ways to resolve the divergence between official claims and market observation and devise ways of overcoming inflation. The second article by Henry Hazlitt talks about the forty year inflation in the U.S.A. with three broad explanations in brief. Further, the article talks about money stock, consumer price index and the purchasing power of the consumer dollar.
