The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization that was founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “The Economic Environment In India – 1967” was published on August 11, 1967 an dwas authored by N.A. Palkhivala. In this booklet, the author discusses the six facets of governmental policy which had the strongest influence on the economic environment, i.e. monetary instability, fiscal policy, export policy, climate for free enterprise, balance between agriculture and industrial development, and the attitude, receptive or otherwise, towards foreign capital. The booklet ends with a few often repeated suggestions.
