The Forum of Free Enterprise was a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A.D Shroff and was established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum published booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled, “The future is with free enterprise,” was published in 1959 and was authored by the founder himself. The author highlighted India’s variation in economic purview. He further emphasized the existence of the State trading corporations and its introduction in food grains trade. According to the author, this development will corrupt the then public life and effectuate the entire set up bureaucratically. He further focused on the development of state control over the advent of a free economy. Mr. Shroff pointed out the need for rationalizing the individual and corporate tax structure for increasing production in India then. The author concluded by putting forth the contention of bringing in the democratic values and free enterprises for India to viably prosper in each sector.
