The following booklet titled, “The New Gold Policy” was published in 1978. This booklet is divided into 3 sections, with each section detailing the critical importance of gold in the Indian economy from a different perspective. The first section is authored by B. S. Mahajan and it focuses on the impact of the new Gold Policy from the viewpoint of the jewellery exporters. The second section, authored by D. R. Pendse, highlights the economic impact and implications of the policy. And in the last section, the author, S. N. Sonawala, talks about the policy from the viewpoint of bullion trade. The text for this booklet has been derived from three talks delivered by B. S. Mahajan, D. R. Pendse, and S. N. Sonawala, at a symposium organised by The Forum of Free Enterprise in Bombay, on 3rd April 1978. The text also contains A small article by Prof. Gangadhar Gadgil.
