The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet is titled “The Power Crisis”, authored by P. M. Agerwala. The author highlights the deep problem with the power industry. Many of the author’s objections have survived the test of time and are still persistent in many of the regions of India. Author’s analysis takes into consideration the facts related to investments, energy losses during transmission, and maintenance. The author then provides “remedial measures” to overcome the then persisting problems, which can be taken help from even today.
