The Forum of Free Enterprise is a non-political organization founded in 1956 by A. D. Shroff, and has been established to educate public opinion in India on free enterprise and a democratic way of life. The Forum publishes booklets to further its objects. The following booklet titled “Urban and Rural Unemployment in India” was published on September 14, 1973 and contains two articles. The first, titled ‘The Problem of The Educated Unemployed’, was authored by Dr. M C Munshi, and examines unemployment in the urban context and failures of past Five Year Plans of redressing this matter. The rising problem of educated college graduates who are unable to enter the workforce is a matter of concern. The second, titled ‘Rural Unemployment and Underemployment in India’, was authored by Prof. Pravin Visaria, and discusses the issue of unemployment in rural areas, and focuses on the agricultural sector as well. He uses the data provided by the National Sample Survey to analyse the situation at hand.
