The October 1962 issue of Swatantra Newsletter, No. 27, reports on the Swatantra Party’s parliamentary criticism of the Congress government, its opposition to the Third Five-Year Plan and expanded taxation, and its organisational work across several states. It opens with C. Rajagopalachari’s overseas mission on nuclear tests and disarmament, alongside criticism of India’s foreign policy, the government’s handling of Chinese incursions in the North-East Frontier Agency and Ladakh, and its relations with Indonesia and Nepal. The issue also records Minoo Masani’s participation in Liberal International meetings in Europe and reproduces resolutions on the European Economic Community, South Africa, liberal democracy, communism, disarmament, and freedom.

The remaining pages combine party news with political commentary. They describe the Swatantra Party’s Chitt oor by-election victory, internal disciplinary action in Andhra Pradesh, proposals for partial denationalisation and employment-oriented investment, and state-level campaigns against land and other taxes in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Reports from Bombay, Madras, Mysore, Maharashtra, Kerala, Orissa, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh emphasise membership drives, public meetings, opposition coordination, civil liberties, budgetary waste, police powers, and the defence of democratic party organisation. The final appendix presents an editorial defence of the party’s reorganisation of its Bihar unit as a “bold move” against undemocratic internal authority.
