Pudumaippithan

Pudumaippithan wrote for Quest, the journal of ideas sponsored by the Indian Committee for Cultural Freedom, appearing in one issue of the archive’s run (Vol. I No. 6 (June-July 1956)).

Quest’s contributor note in Vol. I No. 6 (June-July 1956), p. 73 reads:

Pudumaippithan is the nom-de-plume of Mr. S. Vriddachalam, who died a few years ago while still comparatively young. Tamil fiction at the time he began his literary career was almost entirely confined to escapist stories, artificial in the extreme, and almost always dealing with the upper middle classes. Pudumaippithan was the first writer to revolt against these conventions.
