Quest’s contributor note in Vol. II No. 2 (October-November 1956), p. 70 reads:

Philip Spratt is Associate Editor of M ysindia (Ban galore). He was involved in the Meerut Conspiracy Case after coming to India as an envoy of the British Communist Party. Spent several years in jail and thereafter repudiated communism. Recently published a fragment of autobiography, Blowing up India.

Quest’s contributor note in No. 20 (January-March 1959), p. 106 reads:

Philip Spratt of Meerut Conspiracy Case fame was sent by the British Communist party in the middle twenties to guide the Communist party of India in its formative phase. Since then he has made India his home. Later he moved “beyond communism” (name of a book of which he was joint author with M. N. Roy), and is now counted amongst its ablest critics. At present he edits Mysindia from Bangalore.
