Quest’s contributor note in No. 25 (April/June 1960), p. 103 reads:

PREMENDRA MITRA is one of the foremost writers of short stories in Bengal today and an eminent poet. Had he been equally successful as a film producer, Bengali literature would probably have been the poorer for it.

Quest’s contributor note in No. 37 (APRIL/JUNE 1963 (contents page); cover dated ‘spring 1963’), p. 111 reads:

Of the signatories to the manifesto of SVADHIN SAHITYA SAMAJ, Tarasankar Banerjee, Buddhadeva Bose and Premendra Mitra’s names are well-known outside Bengal. They may well be regarded as the most distinguished living Bengali writers. Subodh Ghosh established his position twentyfive years ago with his first highly original and powerful short story Fossil.
