Quest’s contributor note in Vol. III No. 1 (August-September ‘57), p. 17 reads:

M. S. Kalyanasundaram was born in Madura in 1901. Started writing in Tamil in 1928. Won a prize for his story Abdul Qudir which was published in the well-known Tamil weekly Ananda Viketan. The Message first appeared in the same journal in 1934 and later in Munshi Premchand’s Hans in a Hindi translation by the author.
