TIBOR MERAY, the Hungarian novelist and journalist, visited Korea twice, in 1951-52 and in 1953, as the correspondent of the Hungarian Communist Party’s central organ, Zzabad Nep. He was decorated by the North Korean government with the highest decoration given to civilians. After his return to Hungary he joined the ranks of those who fought against Stalinism and Soviet oppression. Author of The Enemy, The Revolt of the Mind, etc.

TIBOR MERAY, journalist, novelist, winner of the Kossuth Prize (Communist Hungary’s highest literary award), broke with the party, and, upon the collapse of the Revolution, escaped to Paris. Amongst his publications in English are The Revolt of the Mind and The Enemy.
