Michael Polanyi

Michael Polanyi wrote for Quest, the journal of ideas sponsored by the Indian Committee for Cultural Freedom, appearing in 5 issues of the archive’s run (No. 19 (Oct/Dec 1958) to No. 51 (OCT./DEC. 1966 (front cover dates the issue ‘autumn 1966’)).

Quest’s contributor note in No. 19 (Oct/Dec 1958), p. 103 reads:

Michael Polanyi, F.R.S., was born in Budapest. He resigned his life-membership of Kaiser Wilhelm Institute fur Physikalische Chemie in 1933 in protest to anti-Jewish legislation. Later he joined the University of Manchester first as professor of Physical Chemistry and then as professor of Economic and Social Studies. Amongst his many distinguished publications on Science and Humanities “The Logic of Liberty” is perhaps the best known. Personal Knowledge-Towards a post-Critical Philosophy has recently been published by Routledge & Kegan Paul.

Quest’s contributor note in No. 20 (January-March 1959), p. 106 reads:
